ok it's midnight right now, can't sleep..and my brain is like looking for something to do...something to read, that's why I am "Stumbling" (since I haven't purchased a book thank God there internet was born), something to watch ( I am downloading episode 19 of 90210), but I guess i ended up thinking and typing something to blog...
The Title goes "Being a Captain", not a Captain of a Squad or a Volleyball team, or any kind of team, not also being a Leader, but it is more of being like Captain Hook in Peter Pan, being the Captain of a Certain transportation medium or Vehicle. Since most of my peers and I have entered the sweetest age of all (age when people think that life has ended), 18 years of existence, I can say it is sweet 'casue you are like entitled of anything now, you can do whatever you wish, and you are so much entitled of that responsibility and the trust of your folks, and most of all, it is an OBLIGATION for you to drive a car (OH YESSS) :). I know how to drive now, just a little more practice and then off I go to hit the road.
I have now the skill, but i have no car... oh no! but we will come to that, for now I am just visualizing whatever things might happen if I am now driving for real. First thing, of course the road (specifically in the Philippines), is like a big Bump Car pool, and it is soooo not funny if you are driving the real thing (of course not like in a Bump Car that the only purpose is to Bump). I know everyone entitled with a license is a responsible person (or I guess MUST be a responsible person), drivers won't let their own car be bump, so I realized that every one on the road acts the same (as if it is new), but hey if we are thinking the same thing on the road plus a gallon of care (like being careful) the road and the interaction of everycar will sail smoothly. I hope it won't happen to me but as my cousin say: "you will not become a driver unless you bump", she's a crazy but that's a joke ok?
Next, realizing that you did something wrong on the road (well sometimes even if you didn't do anything wrong) and getting your license your comfiscated. This is a Classic, Being a person with License, i think it is one tangible proof that you are civilized and smart citizen of a certain Country, but sad to say this is done by many many motorists (in fact, this is a very bad area of interacting with the traffic enforcers It's either you pay them *and there goes the dirty works*, or else you yell at it each other and ending up that you are still wrong *whetre you are really wrong or not*). So all I can say with this issue is that, being a person entitled with a license, show them what you are really made of, that you are a good, true and responsible driver/citizen.
Third Issue, Yelling/bad mouthing the Jeepney Drivers, Pedestrians crossing the road in a wrong place, Motorcyclists that doesn't know how to drive on the road (specially when it is traffic) and (sorry to say about this) people asking for alms on the streets (most specially the young ones)... I guess you are visualizing those things I have said, Jeepney Drivers, yes their job is noble, and yes they are part of the Philippine Tradition/ Culture, but they are so not part of the civilized world (same goes with the Trucks and Bus Drivers *although Busses are considerable*) enought said for them. Pedestrians, as a driver, you must be responsible of what is happening and gonna happen in front, sadly most people don't know how to use the pedestrian lane! (as in what is wrong with this people, and I just realized that i also did commit the same mistake), now I know the importance of it I will always use the Pedestrian Lane whenever crossing the road. Funny thing also about the Pedestrians, and their Issue, what if you acidentaly bumped them because they are not using the Pedestrian lane? YES! what you are thinking is correct! the FAULT IS TO BE BLAMED TO THE DRIVER! OH MY! *now viualize!* I hope that won't happen to me =S . And Motorcyclist, here in the Philippines motorcyclist effingly act like that they are the king of the orad! ugh! CURSE THEM! I hope they know how to keep right, and know how to love their life. Di they even know that they must be on the same lane with the real cars? an dnot making their own lane just to make it out of the traffic jam?! See! it is the thing to be cursed among all of the Vehicles on the road, by the way to all Motorcycliest, please wear proper helmet! Poor people asking Alms on the road, again Pedestrians on the wrong place, just got poorer...ugh overrated! NEXT!
Fourth, getting out of gas, flat tires (most specially if it's a Long driving),and such things, and getting lost. Therefore always remember to have an extra tires (and some of the gadgets or tools to use), water for the car, Money of course, phone (i advice to have another phone inside the car), and Map...most specially your friends (and Family) you'll need them if you ran out of resources specially money and communication mediums. :)
And Last, Don't Drink and Drive. Ok, being at this age, this is a very very very important reminder... and I think it is Enough said. :)
being new on the road, well I have reflected a lotta things that I have done wrong as a Pedestrian, and now I must not commit any of those again, also as a driver, a big responsibity betowed on you, not just for you, but also for the people inside the car. Like my Instructor have said: "It is not bad to Honk, actually it is free!" and "all you need to do is to do the right thing on the road, no matter how hard they honk on you" and "driving it is all about suing your senses". The bottom line is that just be a responsible Citizen, specially that you are entitled with a license and a big responsibility is bestowed on you. :) Don't risk your LIVES.
Remember:
"That the Windshield is bigger than the side mirrors and rear mirror... " :)
and
"Driving is like Math: Be careful with the signs" :)
